Neighborhood Fellowship

Our ministry with our urban poor and homeless neighbors has changed significantly from the beginning when we simply gave food and clothing to those in need. Now we share worship and breakfast each Sunday morning. This change taught us to develop and maintain relationships and learn to authentically serve those residing near our church building.
We offer weekly Bible studies, which allow a concentrated time in the Scripture and deeper relationship with those who participate. Some studies are focused in direct study of Scripture, while others are application oriented.
On Sunday morning, we gather in the fellowship hall in the lower level of the south building. We worship together then share a hot breakfast prepared by volunteers. Our Neighbors are invited to gather for  Sunday school and are encouraged to participate in the English-language worship in the Sanctuary as well.
The Good Samaritan Medical Clinic is a joint venture with World Impact to offer health care to those without health insurance. A trained medical professional offers care on Wednesday evenings and some Sunday mornings.
Together with the organized programming, our church staff is constantly ministering to our neighbors throughout the week. We offer hope and assistance as we are able, providing small necessities when available.
Rev. Ronda Nusbaum is the Director of the Neighborhood Fellowship, coordinating the ministries to our urban poor and homeless neighbors. Ronda appreciates the diversity of the people she ministers to and with at First Baptist, working with our Neighbors and being involved in organizations that serve the urban poor. She also is passionate about the annual mission trip to serve families in the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. Previous to becoming part of our staff, Ronda obtained a BS in Sociology with a minor in religion from Wichita State University, and a Masters of Divinity from Central Baptist Seminary. She is also a Certified Addictions Counselor.
Ronda has been married to Dwain Nusbaum since 1988 and is constantly amazed at his gifts of hospitality and service. Between the two of them they have four children, eight grandchildren and one dog. In her free time you will find her traveling, spending time with her children and grandchildren, swimming and boating.
